Default 22nd Dragoons - Economy/Sensible Manufacturing.

I finally got hold of a left collar on a 'Buy It Now' to pair up the right one the other day, extremely happy to do so.

What's interesting is that the castle overlay was originally stamped with a flag facing in both directions and then one of them removed depending on which ever way was needed. On the badge on the right they've left a stump of about 1/3rd of the flag!

I can't think of any other collar badges like this?

Keith, Nice(?) oddity. I had another look at the ones I have - just in case, but they are both "normal" and I haven't seen this before. David

Good evening Gentlemen,

It is a very interesting item. I have 14 22D collars being four pairs and and 6 others. - officers hm silver, officers silver and gilt, Officers OSD bronze and Other ranks wm plus various. Not one has a St Georges flag like that shown on Mr. Blakemans left hand other ranks collar. Would you agree that it looks very much like a manufacturing fault? However, it is a very well struck collar. The collars were worn without any cloth backing and with the flags pointing away from the collar opening.

With all good wishes,

Peter

I'd agree with the manufacturing fault theory Peter. The badges are identical to the rear, die stamped rayed star with a central sweat hole. It's nice to pair them, something I thought I'd have to wait years for or end up buying a pair. Now for the 25th Dragoon Guards collars!

Really interesting, never seen an example like that before, part of the turret is missing too!
