Quite right. I think what people are getting at here with regards to bending badges is that if, say a SWB badge for example, were to be held between ones fore fingers and thumbs and light pressure was applied, a genuine badge would take some force in order to make any movement at all. If it was a fake, presumably it would readily bend with ease.
I also do not find it really necessary to use the "bend" method, as a genuine badge will tend to look and feel a certain way, obviating the need for such methods. (which can potentially lead to disaster!)
Maybe I have been lucky, but quite a few badges have come into my collection with small bends or knocks and I have had no problem in righting them, even on ww1 era badges.
