Hi gavzaf,
The History of the cross belts shoulder or belts can be traced to pre American War of Independence days. The standard reference work on the subject is (Military)Shoulder-Belt Plates and Buttons by Major H.G. Parkyn O.B.E. You should be able to borrow a copy from a local library.If you have a specific question ask the forum ? Regards Bantam

Thank you so very much. I am researching on the tradition and history of British Army wearing Cross/Shoulder Belt. This is in part to trace the beginings of how The Boys' Brigade adopted this practise for their Staff Sergeants. And yes, I am a member of The Boys Brigade, Singapore and own a BB Cross Belt.
