Default Prince of Wales Own - Yorkshire title patch

I acquired this some time ago through a job lot win.

Can any member say if this title is authentic or not. If genuine, which period would it have been used.

Not in my area of interest collecting wise. Any views would be welcome.

Regards

Graham

They certainly existed Graham. The PWO York’s were formed in 1958 by merger of the PWO West York’s and the East York’s. The badge concerned was worn at the top of the shoulder on the battle dress (BD) jacket. It would have been worn until the introduction of No2 dress, which I think was in 1967. There are examples where the glued gauze web securing the back of the felt was black, as well as the off white version.

This title was also still being worn by Cadets of Yorkshire Army Cadet Force and The East Riding of Yorkshire Army Cadet Force until Battledress was phased out in the ACF circa 1973/74 (I joined the ACF in 1973 and was issued a Battledress with KOYLI shoulder titles and a rifle green beret with an anodised KOYLI cap badge)

A variation worn by one of the battalions of The Yorkshire Regiment?
The 2nd Bn?

The merrowed edge makes clear it's modern of course. My guess would be a Balkans tour initiative from the 1990s, pre-amalgamations.
