Jeff,
The fittings on the reverse suggest a colour belt plate.
Ron.

I agree with Ron, but I would have expected a plate worn by officers to be Gilt, whereas this one looks brass?

regards

Maybe a sash/crossbelt fitting, the orientation of the grenade and loops suggests that to me.

Will be interesting to see what Andy says but for me the quality is obviously not there for an Officers belt plate and not sure the ERII looks right either.

Simon.

I have seen a couple of these over the years. The quality of this one is thought isn't great. It wouldn't surprise me though if this was original, it seems nowadays we produce crap ( badges etc etc ).
Andy

Ps. I wouldn't buy it.

There's one on eBay at the moment, stated to be a GG officer's trial pattern colour belt plate (the plate itself is stated to be gilded) - £450 or best offer..........

Well that confirms it for me, a batch of fakes.

How many trial patterns come on the market at once???

Yes Leigh, that's been up for sale for ages, possibly years.

Yes, thanks folks.
I thought as much Simon. Leigh ; I see they want £450 for the ebay item, whereas the "Centurion" starting bid is $70 … ( est $100 - $200 ) both look awful ! As you say, they are making some crap badges these days ! Don't worry Andy, I wasn't going to buy it anyway. Regards and thanks again. Jeff
