Default Dr Horation Sparling - Croydon Civil Defence - Unusual Peak Cap Badge

Several medals and paper ephemera are coming up for auction of Dr Horatio Sparling. Of interest are a couple of photos showing him in uniform wearing his helmet (rare to see ARP letters on a MO helmet) and a peaked cap with a badge I am trying to identify.

Also appears to have private purchase shoulder titles ("Medical Officer" I think).

The badge looks like a local authority bullion wire cap badge. The arms of the Borough of Croydon in a wreath. Many CD units wore the badge of their local authority rather than a generic CD version.

Under further magnification, it looks to be "ARP" letters with a crown and laurel leaves.
