Hitler Hate Club badge
This "Hitler Hate Club" badge turns up for sale now and again. There are both buttonhole half-moon and brooch pin fittings available. One recently sold on the tat bazaar for over £100.
I've assumed it was organised through a newspaper or periodical but I've never seen an advert for the club or learned anything about it. There's nowt online that I can currently find. Any information about the club (who started it, when, etc, etc) would be great to see. |

The only info on these badges I can find is from sellers (very basic) , nothing from any other sources . A couple of comments : Quote:

With it saying 'protected design', could it be American maybe?

Or maybe Canadian? I would have thought that it might have had an "R.d." or Registered Design number to it, were it British. On the other hand, this seems to be more of a feature on WW1, or earlier, badges.
It's nicely struck and the die work is of a very high quality. |

Speedbid...say what?
Heavens! Speedbid.......
One of my first ventures into online badge collecting. Some nice bits picked up through this presumably long gone site, way back. |

Have discussed this before with other Home Front collectors and although we have no evidence, the suggested thought was that this was an early war (1939/40) private initiative - like the Tank Victory Club badges - but that it sizzled out quite quickly, leaving little evidence of its background organisation.
However, that the badges still surface fairly frequently suggests that a fair few people parted with money at the time for them. Incidentally, a pinback version of the badge exists, presumably for women. Presumably - if anyone has a newspaper search account - the answer to its background will lie in a wartime newspaper. |

Oddly, the style of fixture and raised lettering on back are very typically American than British, not that such could also be British.

The badge also clearly shows the British lion and a reference to the Royal Navy in the middle. |
