Default Mark Shearman

Just thought I'd introduce myself.
I'm an ex Sapper and started collecting Royal Engineer cap badges this year. Still enjoying it, but get sidetracked from time to time.
Would ultimately love to own RE helmet plates and Royal Corp of Sappers and Miners badges.
Need to find literature to help date and sort out the dross floating around.

Hi Mark,
welcome to the mottly crew. Plenty of knowledge and experience and at least a couple of sapper experts amongst the team. Have you got a copy of capt P A Daybell`s pamphlet entitled `badges and insignia of the corps of royal engineers` privately published back in 1985. Worth getting hold of a copy, drop me a PM if you are interested in getting a copy.
The helmet plates are my personal favorites. There a few militia and volunteer units out there. If you have a look at my albums you will see the one to the 2nd WRY (Leeds) Engineer Volunteers
Keep smiling, Dave
