Default Brodie helmet unit marking
Can anyone please identify the unit that would have worn this Brodie? The sign appears to depict a dark blue square with the numeral 1 to the right in dark red.

This mark was used by the 1/6th Bn. South Staffs from May 1917.

Info comes from the IWM questionnaires on uniforms that were sent out to units in 1919 to try and build a record of these details.
