Default RAF badge - what it is actually?

Hi all,

Is this early RAF shoulder title, beret or sleeve badge?

Also, is this badge re-lugged or fake?

Many thanks,

Timo

Hi Timo,

As far as I understand, this is supposed to be an early WRAF cap badge. I really don't know much about them but I also understand photographic evidence of this badge in use is not great with only one blurry period photograph that I have ever seen. Others would know more, no doubt. They turn up for sale fairly regularly but this type of badge has been faked quite a bit though & I think by the old Martin Marsh badge versions too.
I can't comment on the lugs or what determines an original from a fake either unfortunately.

The attached images are from the late David Parsons of the UK. He left a very good legacy for us RAF collectors. God bless him.

Best regards,
David

Many thanks David. Any other thoughts on this?

This badge has been discussed on the Forum on other occasions

https://www.britishbadgeforum.com/fo...ad.php?t=86329

I would add that the badge has been heavily reproduced since the 1980’s if not prior to that.

Further to my last post, proof that these badge are still being reproduced today:
