Default Duke of Wellington’s Regiment (West Riding)

Good Day All

I would be interested in anyone’s thoughts on these two cap badges.

The one on the left is a genuine badge, likely of WW2 vintage in my opinion, the right a fake.

I am trying to place a West Riding badge that would have been used sometime during the 1924-1936 time period as that is when it was allied with The Yorkton Regiment. Do you think the badge on the left fits that requirement?

Also, what indicates the badge on the right is a fake

It is not a genuine cap badge because there was not an all brass version worn and the lugs are doubly wrong for a WW1 or WW2 period badge.

Thank you. I like to know the reasons why a badge is fake so I know the warning signs.
