Default Badgaholic (tongue in cheek!)
Hi everyone,

My name is Iain and I'm a badgaholic. (Everyone say Hi Iain.)

I started to collect British Military badges about 30 years ago and at first I couldn't stop; I just needed to buy more and more badges.
After moving to SA in '88 I lost touch and was able to kick the habit. I sold my Cavalry badges and my Corps badges were stolen, I even gave my special forces badges to my brother....who sold them, the swine.
Then the worst happened....I found this web site about 2 years ago and I slipped back....I just couldn't help myself.....now, not only do I collect British badges......but I'm also collecting SA badges.....I just don't what to do anymore!

The good news is that you have accepted you have a condition... a brave first step.

The bad news is there is no known cure.

Yes, I understand i have a condition, and I believe there is no cure. I've thought of getting rid of the PC so I dont have access to internet sites, but hell, thats strong.
I thought of turning to drink, (more,) .....but that clouds your judgement ....and you buy more.....I've thought of taking a lover but badges dont talk back.....and cost less.....

I always think what could buy for the same money ?

You can still buy a nice officers Home Service helmet for £600 but then if you are an addicted collector to one particular regiment (s) and an item fills a long standing gap in your collection then you can convince yourself that it is actually an investment (and better than money in the bank ) and not part of your hobby.

yes, it must be worth considering, both eat your money and maybe better just to have the one temptation!

Hi Peter,

I think "convince" is an appropriate word here and perhaps "need" slots in there somewhere!!!! Not only do you need this investment but you need to convince yourself that you need it.

Hi iain, welcome to the badge site, here is my tip to help to stay on the right track................. only buy on ebay.......... no where else, and only place a bid of 99p on each lot......................you will end up with loads of good bits for very little outlay. All the best Andrew
