Journalist Who "Scooped" WW2 Dies Aged 105
Clare Hollingworth, the woman journalist who got the "Scoop" of the German invasion of Poland, and thus the start of WW2 has died, at the age of 105:

A truly remarkable lady - she was a legend whom I was privileged to know in Hong Kong. Her actions in the period 30 August to 3 September 1939 made her the patron saint of British HUMINT collectors! I don't know the details but I believe that she and her husband took the surrender of a group of Wehrmacht troops in the Dodecanese in May 1945 - there being no other British around at the time. Mike
