54bty,
The known maker's of the larger, later/last pattern King's badge in plated metals are Firmin and LB&B.
This badge also, and quite remarkably has been repro'ed in the last few years.
I'll take and show a pic of these later copies (Restrikes), if required.
STM.

Gents, whilst on the subject of The Kings Regt in this pattern, I came across a black A/A single collar badges (horse faces left on the fleur-de-lyse). Never seen it before. Anyone out there enlighten me at all? Its the same design and shape as the usual Kings Regt anodised collars but made in black anodised. Any ideas?

Bess

I think you have an example of a scarce cap badge made for the Kings in Hong Kong in 1974 prior to a move to Londonderry.

I will try and post a picture of my example later.

This badge is mentioned in " Badge Backings and Special Embellishments" on page 90

Attached are pictures of the later pattern larger Kings silver and gilt badge used on a Regimental Police brassard and a picture of a member of what is left of the Liverpool Scottish wearing the "new" Duke of Lancasters Regt badge in the TOS with fobes tartan backing and blue hackle.

P.B many thanks. Mmmm . . I've just read page 90. You could well be right! Although it presents as a collar badge, the horse faces the correct way for the cap badge and of course such types were often worn as cap badges (L.I is a good example, the larger collar badge painted black for N.I tours, a later bespoke type of course eventualy being produced). It would seem odd to make anodised collar badges in BLACK when black anodised cap badges have traditionally made for NI tours. Many thanks for the advice, I do hope you're right!

Regards
Bess

I have tried with little success to photograph the black Hong Kong made badge but will continue to try.

On checking my bi metal badges I find I have one marked AMMO and one with a plain slider.

I am sure everyone has noticed the change back to "King`s" in plain capitals on the bi metal and larger issue badges.
