Stalwart Guardian / Valiant Guardian Exercise Patches
In 2003, 2004, and 2005, Land Force Central Command held a summer concentration called Stalwart Guardian. In 2006 it was followed by Valiant Guardian. These concentrations were unique in that patches were made and issued for the exercise order of battle. They were a combination unit identification and formation identification in one patch. In 2006, Valiant Guardian summer concentration was held, and a revised order of battle led to an issue of similar patches reflecting that order of battle.
These patches were issued under a strict allotment, most only getting one or two patches. They were worn in place of the Canada flag on the arm brassard on the combat uniform, cadpat, and armoured crew overall. The combat was only worn in 2003 as far as I have been able to confirm. The patches are virtually unknown in the collectors world. Hard to come by, and undocumented. An image of a few examples is attached.

Hi Mike, The poster is still in your hands.
Gents, images of your accumulations would be appreciated. It would help confirm or expand the orbat. Thanks.

The identification of these patches as DZ patches is misleading. Many of the units in SG O3 were not air landing units. The unit or task abbreviation was embroidered on the patch in a contrasting white or black thread, whichever was most appropriate. I have only seen one patch which was not embroidered with the unit / branch designation, and that was a signals patch, done in pale blue over dark blue. It was likely issued for one of the later Ex SG or for EX VG.
