They where surplused out of Batus in Suffield many years ago. And both are runners one is in fact registered and licensed for the road. They where used for many years down there for safety vehicles during their live fire exercises but became redundent around 1996 and mothballed. They then where declared as part of a soviet nato pact for the downsizing of armour stocks and they where offered for disposal to of all people ME.

Ferret
Quote:
You never know I might have driven or commanded you ferret, I have been on the suffield trainning area about 6 or 7 times for medman Exercises. They were used also as a means of transport for the SSM's and RSM's of the Cavarly Regiments. They Bring back alot of good and also not so good memories of being in the British Army. 3748 Hussar |

Hi thanks for the reply when I got them they had big plywood wood board wired to the tire side with call signs, I remember one of mine had 2C many of the others had memorabilia of the members who had served in them be it decals or papers left in them. I went through every one took out all the ID plates and EIS I could find and when I sited them on the various ranges they went out where they would not be blown up only hit by SA. I also stripped out the bins and much spare parts very littlle went to waste and from what I understand most still stand proud with the tires still up out there.
