10th Paddington Rifles London Regiment
An excellent detailed photo of an officer of the original 10th Bn, The London Regiment which, formed in 1908 as the Paddington Rifles, was disbanded in 1912 because of falling numbers, its place taken by the Hackney Battalion.
This 2nd Lieutenant wears the first pattern khaki service dress with bronze collar badges and a T, his voided hat badge presumably silver. Over its life of four years there can have been few officers of this regiment. Jon |

No mini VC emblem on the ribbon, so presumably not?

Must admit I had missed the ribbon which on close inspection is a single colour.
Possibly the green ribbon of a Volunteer Long Service medal - but is he old enough? Jon |

As he is only a 2nd Lt and wearing the all green ribbon of the VLS&GC Medal he must have been promoted from the ranks.
It cant be a VD as he wouldnt have remained a 2nd Lt for all that time without promotion. regards

Probably not in this case, but it was possible for Officers to be awarded the Volunteer Long Service medal.

I am pleased to have the Volunteer Long Service medal to awarded to Captain and Hon. Major G.A. Wilson in my collection. He ended up a Colonel and within the battalion it was said the the initials stood for God Almighty.
