Default WW1 Slouch hat???

I hope no one is going to bid on our old mate's "Light Horse Sig/ Slouch Hat WW1"

http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Light-Hor...item3a8636e674

A real WW1 slouch probably sells for over $AUD5000 these days.

He's a well known scam artist who puts together slouch hat and beret and badge combinations and lists them as originals. He stole a photo from my website and then used it to try and sell a badge on eBay.

His actual name is Charles Liet. He threatened to sue me several times for what I said about him on my site. I'm still waiting three years later.

I feel sorry for the people who actually buy his wares!

And what's worse, eBay do nothing about his fraudulent activities.

Default Dodgy slouch hats

He's been buying up big under on slouch hats under his other Ebay ID, which he uses for buying only and obviously keeps 'private'. Some poor sucker bought a 'WW2 MM winner's slouch hat' for nearly $400 a while back. The hat, which youwon12 bought under his other ID for a few bucks, had the name of the original owner erased and the MM winner's name written inside. You could actually see where the erasure was made. Anyway, the Australian National Archives website must be a boon for youwon12 - names, army numbers, other details of service people - instant 'provenance' - choose whomever you want your fakes to have belonged to.

He also had listed what looked suspiciously like goose feathers as 'slouch hat feathers', a while back. They came from a ladies feather stole which he bought from a HK seller for a few bucks and obviously unpicked.

While I feel sorry for the folks that get taken in by youwon12's junk, I've got to say that if you splash out a few hundred bucks without doing some basic homework first then you're just asking to be taken in.

Sadly what he is committing is fraud.

Unfortunately, very hard to prove in a court of law.

Take a look at a previously listed item from this seller,

http:www.ebay.com.au/itm/261303876577

The description is lifted straight from the Australian National Archive. Provenance . . . ? Hmmm . . . dunno! I have noticed though that his hats all seem to have belonged to commandos, gallantry award recipients, light horsemen. None from cooks, mess orderlies, clerks . . .

By the way, this one didn't sell. It may well be 'rebirthed' as a more attractive item. Youwon12 may be, at this moment, trawling the National Archive for VC recipients' details.

Maybe it's time to get "A Current Affair" to investigate this joker and eBay!

LOL
