1st Canadian Armored Carrier Regiment Cap Badge
Hey all, what would you consider the value of an original 1st Canadian Armored Carrier Regiment Cap Badge? I have seen wildly different prices on eBay, all the way up to $700. Pic attached of the one that sold for $700

Looks like a good one, the proper oval "O". The value is hard one, its a rare badge for sure, it all depends what that collector will pay. For many this and the Garrison badge are the last ones to source to complete a collection. I would say between $600 and $800 for sure.

I agree with Mike that $600-$800 is a fair and average price range now. I'd pay more for one with a solid provenance or as part of a grouping.
Consider now that 1CPB and 8th Recce commonly sell for higher and are far more plentiful. I'd say it's even easier to find a plastic 1CPB badge than it is a genuine 1CACR badge. You'll likely only see 1 or 2 genuine 'roos up for sale in any given year and you are unlikely to find a bargain as these are actively sought now by our Association members, surviving families and our Archive. If I see one for under $600 I buy it.

It is a regular brass badge that has just the outside face chromed, possibly for patrol dress, postwar. (A number of Kangaroo NCOs and an Officer served at Borden postwar, Kangaroo badges are known to be worn as late as 1950) It, also has had the lugs removed and a pin/broach fitting attached. Could possibly be a very large sweetheart?
The Legion in Orillia has a chromed one in a display there too IIRC.

Yes, I can see that you a correct. There is no way in the world I would have picked that without the images you posted. Thanks very much.
It looks like the collector I bought these off got taken for a ride! What are the repo's worth? $20? |

hi ellis
i hope you didnt pay to much for the frames of badges this badge came from. i know the collection and i would say the majority are restrikes. i did contact the auction house and advised them but they chose to ignore me. i did actually mention this particular badge as one example, saying the price attached to it was certainly misleading. if your concerned with any you purchased please show some pics on this forum regards bc |
