Farewell Tonkas
I was very fortunate to attend the final Tornado Enthusiasts day last Friday at RAF Marham. The weather was poor, so flying shots were challenging, but have added a few pics from the day. Quite sad saying goodbye to the Tonka, F35s just don't have the same appeal.
The Tornado's bow out tomorrow with a final flight in the afternoon. Alli |

Makes you feel old- aircraft and bases you served at become no more. Duke my avatar and I walked the squadron areas and taxi ways at RAF Laarbruch '85-'88. 15, 16 and 20 Sqn. Regards, Paul.

We had some RE stay in our barrack block one year and while having a drink with them one tried to eat one of my slippers (Trendy!)- If I remember he had a prosthetic foot- not common back then. Usual problems were between RE and RAF Regt. in the Malcom Club. Regards, Paul.
PS Laarbruch now Weeze Airport but much of it still unaltered looking on Google. Image search shows much of it unused/abandoned. Last edited by wardog; 14-03-19 at 12:39 AM. |

Hello Alli. I mention Duke from time to time, he never got to come home so the least I can do as a memory. Only dog I had to put before a vet for the last goodbye.
Another picture in this thread. https://www.britishbadgeforum.com/fo...ht=duke&page=8 Regards, Paul. Just looked at photos taken back then and not one showing a Tonka! |

Ahh Duke, what a stunning dog. Don't start me off, I'm daft about dogs.

It was Frank, I'll pop up a few piccies later. If you know where to look in Horncastle there are some decent goodies to be had.

There you go Frank, this weeks haul is the altimeter, 17th/21st cloth and bandsman(?) badge, the berets are from over the last few months. Nothing special and pocket money prices but it makes me happy.
Got lots to catalogue and photograph but life is somewhat lifey at the moment, a trio of courses on the go, a motorsport blog, aviation photography and a divorce that is as complicated as Brexit means I don't know whether I'm coming or going at times 🤪 |
