Default Garda Siochana (Irish Police) motorcycle helmet.

Not military, but may be of interest to some. Its dated from the 1960s. Not sure if its 1963 or 1968, its been smudged.

The motorcycle helmet badge is smaller than the regular helmet plate, whilst remaining noticeably bigger than the cap badge.

Hi Phil,

Thanks for sharing. A lovely vintage lid and quite rare I would suspect.

Cheers,

Roy

Yes, can't help but think of "Heartbeat" and of the toy policeman on a moped I that Ihad as a little kid.
I have a British "Noddy" helmet, the basic Home Office helmet to look at but with leather harness chinstraps.
I can't really show it as it's been gnawed by rats and needs patching with fabric and a helmet plate and a screw on top rose.
I should smarten it up and make it presentable to display.

Thank you, Gentlemen, I have not found any more examples of this helmet online (Garda badged), so I assume it is fairly uncommon.

They are quite numerous as the basic MOD (1960s fashion) helmet.

Heartbeat is what comes to mind, for me too. I think, maybe, they used black Corkers in the series.

Leigh, you should save that noddy helmet of yours.

Yes, the "Heartbeat" ones are black I think.
The white one is very Carnaby Street Austin Powers.
There's a Gardai one shown here, it's condition isn't as good as yours.

It's in a darned sight better condition than my old Noddy bike helmet though. This tatty lid had "PC 65" written in it.

Are there any markings in your Corker, a policeman's name or number?
