Tank Within Wreath Beret Badge (Shown in Vietnam War Documentary).
Watching a documentary series "The Vietnam War" (episode 3 The River Styx (January 1964-December 1965)) I saw footage of a soldier standing with General Westmoreland.
What's the badge on his beret please? It appears to be embroidered rather than of metal and may be on a coloured backing, I can't tell. It may be embroidered on to a cloth backing that matches the beret colour and is just cut irregularly to cater for the projecting gun barrel. |

Army of the Republic of Vietnam "ARVN" tank beret badge. ARVN Armored Units. Beret would be black, the badges are most often found in stamped metal and bullion wire embroidery, The photo appears to be a US Advisor to the ARVN.

Hello Leigh
I have attached a picture of a couple of the ARVN armoured badges I have in my collection. You will find they come in white metal, embroided and bullion. There a quiet a few makers variations but the theme is basically the same. Regards Dennis |
