Default Liverpool Pals

I would like to ask Forum members opinion on this Liverpool Pals badge. I have looked at others on this site and am of the opinion that it ‘may’ be a 1915 pattern other ranks cap badge - but what do I know!

Any help or advice, greatly appreciated.

Kind regards, Malcolm.

The 1915 pattern was die stamped. You have a Gm example of the 1914 unofficial badge.

Hello Luke.

Thank you for the reply and interesting link. Am I to assume my badge was made in 1914 by Elkingtons. Was its purchased for use as a cap badge?

Kind regards, Malcolm.

Elkingtons were a jewellers who made the silver ones not the brass ones. The die cast was the first cap badge.

Hello Alan.

Many thanks for this. I read through the link and to be honest I was confused. So would I be correct in think now that my badge was made in 1914 as the first type in GM to be worn by other ranks. To be honest, I think I need it spelling out to me in big!

Ki d regards, Malcolm.

Yes. The followed by a die struck one on lugs and then finally by an officially issued die struck on a slider.

Not intending to be pedantic but for accuracy’s sake, the 1915 pattern was officially authorised and issued, SP 8520/15.
