Default War time?

My grandfather and his crew. He has moustache and is smoking. As they have respirators and revolvers I think 1940/1

A super image and interesting to see leather being worn rather than webbing.
Have you any images of their vehicles?

I would be surprised if it is any later than 1940 if not late 1930's.

Agree with REME245. Not later than 1940 and possibly BEF pre Dunkirk. Photos at train station look like Northern France?
RTR black coveralls were worn by regular RTC/RTR from 1935 until 1941.

That's much better, the vehicle on the right in the top righthand photograph appears to be the size of one of those typical light tanks, poor buggers, I would not have enjoyed being there at that point in time.

I think that's a Vickers mark V1, all I can say is rather him than me, had he attained Field rank prior to his discharge?

Okay, well that is certainly a lengthy career in which he must have seen many changes, glad he survived, a great many were not so fortunate, have you got his beret?
