Super picture, Andy. Great to see the 'flat cap yeoman', front far-right. Lovely!

Any possibility of a few high res close-ups, at all?

Some of them seem to be wearing covers on their hats.

Is it the "deep cherry" coloured dress cap with a khaki cover on it?

Mixture of jacket types-collars-pleated lower pockets. Maxim guns. For those that don't know the officer was of the hot drink family. Regards, Paul. http://1914-1918.invisionzone.com/fo...owtopic=199396

This cap was in the RGH's Badminton blue, with a khaki cover. It was introduced in 1906 and continued to be worn by some until they reached Egypt in April 1915 - there is a photo in the Rollo Clifford book on the RGH, taken on the troop ship, showing a sergeant still wearing this cap and cover.
Seems the crimson cap may have been introduced in the 1920's (or even in the '30's). By the time of the coronation in 1953, a blue cap with buff band and piping was worn, which continued in use until 1962, when the then CO decided to change to the crimson caps for the parade held that year for the presentation of the guidon.
