Help with 2nd Royal Cheshire Regiment Buckle
Hi
Can anyone help me with this half of a belt buckle. I would like to know what the other half would look like and also what period it may date too. Any help or advice would be very much appreciated. Rob |

Thanks for the link to the photo, I now know what I am looking for to complete the buckle. Do you have any idea what period the buckle dates to, looking at the pic in the link is that a victorian crown. Rob |

The battalion was raised on the 25th July 1853, at Macclesfield Cheshire as the 2nd Royal Cheshire Militia. It became the 4th Battalion the Cheshire Regiment on 1st July, 1881. The battalion was disbanded on the 31st July, 1908 when the TF was created.

Thank you very much for the info and for taking time to post. Am I right in assuming the buckle will date from the whole of this period or would it be to a particular time frame. Thanks again Rob |

Hello Rob,
I don't know the exact date but, I think it would be in the late 1870's George |

Thanks so much for that, as Shaw Taylor used to say I just need to keep my eyes peeled for the other half of the buckle. Even as half a buckle I still think it's a nice find. Thanks again for all your help Rob |
