Default Fake non existent badge

Principal Air Chaplain ( 1 Star rank) badge, but badge is KC with a mid 1970s chaplain lapel fixed to it. The real badge was only on issue between 1954 and 1970 approximately but still being worn by one PAC at 1974 Chaplains Conference.

There was no KC version of the badge.

Is it for sale on Ebay or a militaria dealers/sellers site? and is the seller in Australia?
It is very upsetting when some is selling an outright Fake .

I had an RAF version one of these, which I found out was never worn by the RAF at any time.

My mate runs this site and certainly doesn't appreciate having badges described as being "Fake" on forum by individuals hiding behind aliases.

If you think it's not real, at least have the intestinal fortitude to email him and raise the issue with him rather than just discuss it here where here won't see it or be able to reply.

He takes pride in only selling authentic items and does not deliberately list fakes.

Please provide your proof Ted - what is the source of your information?

Kaiser - whoever you are, I strongly suggest you provide strong evidence before stating an item for sale on a website is fake - you may well be the subject of legal action.

Mick

Mick.
Dont you and Glen own Regimental Books and Arent you his partner in Militaria Online?
When 2 of Australia's Biggest RAAF Collectors tell me and others this badge is a Fake, well this is what forums are about. To tell other collectors what is Good,Fake ,Reproduction and Fantisy.
If i had not put up the link ,another person would have.
Very soon there will be some great books being published on RAAF insignia.when these come out they will help everyone that collects Know what is good and what is bad.
What information do you have to State the badge is Not Fake and is Real??
We can go back and forth on this subject ,all i did was put up the link for other forum members to look at.
If you or Glen are upset, then i Apologise .

No I am not the owner - Glenn is the owner and I run his website and assist with his IT requirements.

I'm certainly happy with people posting about fake badges but care should be taken about posting links to badges on people's website without factual evidence.

A person makes a living from running that site and posts which could result in a negative impact to their reputation can easily result in defamatory litigation against the poster. I'm sure the mods will agree with me here on this - be careful what you post without facts to back you up - it's a very litigious society we all live in these days (sadly).

But knowing Glenn, if it turns out to be a reproduction or fantasy badge, he will either change the description or remove it from the site. As to what info he has about it's origin, I don't know. I can ask him and see what he says. I suspect he probably just picked it up from a purchased collection.

And yes, I welcome a reference book on RAAF insignia - certainly is well overdue.

In this instance, I am keen to see what evidence Ted is able to produce to backup his claims.

Mick

The RAAF introduced the Principal Air Chaplain badge circa 1954/55 (first PAC having been appointed 1952 as to Skypilot - The history of Chaplains in the RAAF), and remained in use until 1972 although one PAC was still wearing one at the 1974 Chaplain's Conference. Somewhere I have an L5 number but can't lay my hands on it at present.

The attached photo dates to mid to late 50s and features a group of Chaplains with a group of WRAAFS, two of whom are PACs and are wearing Air Officer cap badges, although which Crown is on the badge is not discernable to me.

The badge in question here rings bells as the Cross Pattee centrepiece seems to be the style of Chaplain insignia (approx 25/30mm) that was introduced in the 1970s.

Just my observations
