Default Border depot Carlisle which district/command?

Hi everyone
My mums cousin served at the Border regiments depot at Carlisle castle in the mid 50s during his national service. Badging up a battledress jacket for him, I know left arm is Lancastrian brigade but unsure about right arm (which I believe would be the district badge as he was depot staff). Originally thought north western district (western command) but seen one photo of Northumbrian district (northern command) and one mention that Carlisle may have been under them in late 40s.... Hope that makes sense! Thanks
