Default OTC, CCF & ACF CLOTH REFERENCE BOOK(S)/PAMPHLETS

Hi,

I was wondering whether there was a reasonably up-to-date illustrated reference book/pamphlet showing cloth badges (slip-ons, shoulder titles and flashes) for OTC, CCF and ACF units? The closest thing I can see (and currently use) is Rawlings, Edn 3, but that merely skims the surface of the subject in question.

Any pointers, possibly including ISBN and Title(s), would be most welcome.

Thanks,

Lovat

I am unaware of any work and it would be a labour of love as cadet unit patches are not sealed or regulated in the same way as the Regular Army or Reserves. The ACF are more regulated than the CCFs.

Bespoke CCF cap badges with a school design remain relatively uncommon but, especially with the proliferation of new CCF units, the number of unit arm patches are huge.

Other than Rawlings I can only suggest Waring’s identification pamphlets which list many of the cloth titles.

That said, I have been writing up my research notes specifically for Essex-based cadet units. I now have over 100 units and 100 badges recorded. I am thinking to finalise those and go to print – will raise a new post on that so to not deflect further from this one.

There are some excellent albums in the forum too.
