Default Cheshire & Carnarvon Port Squadron

I had this badge in my RA album thinking it was something to do with the 1st Cheshire & Carnarvon Artillery Volunteers as shown on the plate below.
Luckily Brookies, aka Jonathan, was idly reviewing my albums and something triggered his memory. After checking with "the old man" he referred me to lot 500 in Bosleys' 30th Jan, 2008 catalogue. Low and behold a similar example listed as Port Squadron Royal Engineers.
Do any of our engineer collectors have any information that can support this please and if so date worn would be very useful.
Thanks in advance.
Hwyl,
Kevin
