Here is another one I have never seen...

can a member ID pls? & what period?

Not certain but think this is either french or italian? will dig out some old booklets I have and see if I can find an answer for you.

Looks like I'm wrong! Thought it was the badge pictured but it is different, italians also have a similar badge but the gun barrel is also much more akin to a traditional cannon! Its definately not british but must admit I'm at a loss as to what it is?

I had a look thru some of my books that give foreign navies rate & rank badges but I could not locate it, but these are mainly wartime & 1950's so perhaps its more of the modern era.

Usually the diagonal lightning bolts with or without arrows indicate electrical or sonar, combine this with a cannon, so perhaps its some kind of gunnery firecontrolman.

& the badge I posted could well be upside down.
