Default Volunteer Rifles badge for ID

Can anyone kindly ID this Volunteer rifles cap badge.
It was found yesterday by a friend.
depicts
Victorian crown with V and R either side
Bugle above
rifle and bayonet below.
A scroll (cant make out )then
a small castle keep within a fortified circle mound.
"Volunteer Rifle Brigade" within garter surrounds.
Very small canon at bottom.
