Default Musician bullion badges

Hi All,

I recently acquired the badge on the left. I believe it may be RCAF. Its size is the standard one as used by RAF musicians on their sleeve tunics. Also, if someone can identify the badge, do they know when the badge was first used? Is it now redundant having a blue/grey background?

Thanks & regards,

Graham

Graham I think this is RCAF also and most probably worn between 1946, when the formal band was formed, and 1968, when the uniform changed to Green. It is similar in form to those worn by the RCAF during WWII, although they were in blue or red embroidery.
Since the reintroduction of the blue/grey uniform most trade badges are now worn as winged breast badges, the one for musician is shown here, together with earlier band badges..

Hi, Thanks for the 2 responses & numerous views.

The answer regarding it's RCAF is actually on this Forum.

Currently page 9 - RCAF Band Cap badge. Category = Air Force (RCAF AND CAF).

Should have done some 'digging' first before posting this thread.

Regards,

Graham
