Hello Iain,
as requested. The first set is marked "Firmin, London". The two individual Cap badges are both marked "J R Gaunt, London", either impressed or on a small plaque to back. My impressed version has been "repaired"...;-) Not by me, found as is. I have yet to see any semi-solid Collars, Gaunt marked, and the gilt, die stamped versions sometimes do have the "D-shaped" Gaunt styled lugs, but as yet, no plaque found. Many thanks for the thread, very informative. All the best James |

Guys,
further to you excellent work, on the 5th, attached are the gilt fired Cap and Collars I have come across. Has anyone come across others... Oldham mentions a "Gilt" 6/54 Collar... I have heavily gilded types, but not semi-solid like the Cap badge pictured (6/48). Has anyone seen a 6/50 type Cap Badge in Gilt Fired brass. The matching Gilt fired collars are depicted (6/57). None are maker marked. All the best James |
