Default MSO RCT

Not a very rare badge and there are a few I know in members albums (eg Fat Boy Ken's RCT album), but personally I've been looking for an example for quite a while.

I thought this was a particularly nice one though. Instead of having the EIIR cypher cut away and the MSO part inserted inside the laurels and banner, this one has the MSO neatly fitted over the cypher. This gives it a pleasing domed appearance.

Anyway, I thought the way it's been put together (hopefully no one thinks butchered) was worth sharing.

Cheers
Mark

Wohoooo !!
Yep ! A nice example of the later version of the RCT/MSO cap badge.

They were told to attach the MSO disc to the outside of the badge, as removing the EiiR cypher was considered disrespecful.

Well done Mark

Chaps, do we know for sure by whom & where they were actually 'manufactured' ?

The REME example is particularly scarce. I know one went on Ebay a couple of years ago for an eye watering amount.

My example of the MSO disc inserted from behind.

Mine were produced in the MSO (Transport) workshop in Bielefeld. I never saw anyone wearing the over the top version.
