Boer artillery button?
Hi,
This question in the mystery section remains unanswered. https://www.britishbadgeforum.com/fo...highlight=boer Were there Boer artillery units equipped with uniforms supplied by Dutch manufacturers? |

Not that I am aware of. The Staats artillery uniforms and buttons were supplied by the local rep of Hobson & Sons I believe.
The dutch artillery button in my opinion probably came from a Dutch artillery person uniform. There were many representatives from various armies in South Africa during the Boer War. |

Thank you Milmed,
This link leads to a page with an interesting PDF. https://www.ajol.info//index.php/sms...cle/view/89557 There were 4 Dutch army observers, all officers. The article does not mention Dutch military staff supporting these officers. The button looks very much an Other Ranks button. Do you know if Dutch send relief goods after the end of the war, e.g. clothing? |

Could any of the "Hollander Corps" have worn a uniform with those buttons ?
"Dutch volunteers established the Hollander Corps in the South African Republic. The Hollander Corps was involved at the Battle of Elandslaagte in October 1899. After that defeat, the Hollander Corps was disbanded and merged into other Boer units. A group calling themselves the Second Hollander Corps was founded in 1900 and joined the forces of the Orange Free State."
