Default 1st/15th Royal New South Wales Lancers - unofficial beret badge

Hey Guys,

I believe this guy from the 1st/15th Royal New South Wales Lancers is wearing an unofficially issued beret badge based on the early 1953-60 pattern.

From what I have been told, once they qualify as Cavalry Scouts (completed their IETs) they are then able to wear this pattern on their berets with the larger issued badges being continued to be worn on their slouch hats.

This version of the badge was made using the same die that was used for their 1985 centenary badge.

Official caption:

Australian Army Corporal Chris Hunt (middle) from the 1st/15th Royal New South Wales Lancers, chats to visitors during the 2021 Hunter Valley Airshow at Cessnock Airport, Polkolbin, NSW.

Defence has provided support to the 2021 Hunter Valley Airshow held 13-14 March 2021 at Cessnock Airport, NSW. Personnel and equipment were provided by Navy, Army and Air Force including an aerobatic display by the Roulettes, vintage aircraft displays from Air Force No. 100 Squadron, an EC135 helicopter and Unmanned Aerial Systems (UAS) from the Royal Australian Navy, and various displays and stands from the Australian Army including Protected Mobility Vehicles, an infantry section weapons stand, a mortar display and a HX77 truck.

Always think the elephant on the NSW Lancers badges looks like the Heebie Jeebies that hands Rab C Nesbit a bottle of Buckfast.

... sorry I realise my post is very random and off topic.

Isn't watching videos of Rab a bit like bringing your work home?
Too many of these?

This oxidised copper badge was made by Swan and Hudson, same manufacturer as the 1948-53 badges.
