Default Lancashire Rifle Volunteer?

This CDV was purchased at an antiques fair yesterday and, whilst it gives no details in terms of a photographer's studio, other, non military, photographs in the pile were from Lancashire. The man selling them came from Manchester.
The cap badge being worn appears to be the generic Rifle Volunteers hunting horn, (the subject of many threads), with a central No 1.

Any thoughts would be welcome.

I know the badges of the Manchester Regiment associated RVC's and none had a 1 in the centre of the bugle horn. If it was a 4 then yes, it would be the 4th Admin Bn. LRVC which became the 1st VB Manchester Regiment. The 1st VB had their own busby badge though, not being a bugle horn.

Did the Liverpool based 1st Lancs RVC wear a rifles & busby uniform?

regards

Westlake "Tracing the Rifle Volunteers" mentions for 1st Lancashire Rifle Volunteer Corps:

Uniform: green/black.

Nothing about a busby, but it points to a rifles orientation of the corps.

Here are a couple of coiled bugle badges with 1 in the centre, worn in various parts of the empire and certainly worn in NSW. Have also seen a slung bugle with 1.
