Default 1st Alconquins 159 Overseas Battalion

Possible trade item

Formed 1915 disbanded 1917 I believe the 1st Alconquins 159 overseas Battalion

It should be bronze brass finish according to the books this appears to be silver plated/white metal the large broach makes me think either officer Multi use badge or oversize sweetheart badge.

I am keen to see what others think no maker mark visible.

Regards

Steve

Hi Steve, this is one of my areas of specialization. The badge is likely plated for officers wear, BUT there is evidence these were also worn post war by veterans of the 159th who returned to the militia.
Not sure which reference you are using, but the finishes for other ranks are pickled, darkened bronze and antiqued bronze. Brass badges were attributed to nco's, sometimes.
