Interesting to see the Sussex Yeomanry wore collar badges on the battledress.

Is the Sussex Yeomanry not the cap badge size and design anyway?
Or "should" they have been wearing the RA badge in headress?

Edit - my mistake, I see now that you were refering to badges being worn on the collars, not as cap badges.

The Sussex Yeomanry was one of several Yeomanry regiment who re-roled to RA post WW1.
Many initially wore RA badges and then converted back to the old Yeomanry designs later on: this increased mid WW2 so by the end of the war most original badges were back in use.

With the 'doubling up of the TA in 1937-38 there were 2 regts:

98 Field Regiment R.A. (Surrey & Sussex Yeomanry)
144 Field Regiment R.A. (Surrey & Sussex Yeomanry)

The photo is post war judging by the medal ribbons which by that time collars on BD was back in vogue. As both 98 and 144 were in NAfrica I can't tell you which one he was in by the ribbons.

Thats very much appreciated and helpful. From what you have said and looking at the other postcards and pictures my friend has of her father I believe he was more than likely a member of 98th Field .She has pics of his time in Egypt,Cairo,Italy Taranto and Europe where he served post war.All i need to do know is establish his Battery.
