Default Argyll Light Infantry TANK

One of the more scarce Canadian cap badges in the Second World War series is the Argyll Light Infantry Tank. The Argyll LI Tank badge was not approved until 1941, and the unit only served in the reserve army. In 1946, the unit was converted to the 9th AT Regt RCA. The scarcity of this badge is explained by the reserve role of the regiment, and the short time period the unit was in existence with the approved badge.

Hi CB, The repros have been discussed in another thread. Here is a link to that thread. It has some images and information about the repro's. http://www.britishbadgeforum.com/for...+infantry+tank

Out of curiosity, what would be the value of one of these brass ones?

I haven't seen many of these around, so a value is somewhat speculative. $350 - $400 would be a possible range.

Default Plated Example

I also have this plated example. The majority of my cap badge collection was given to me by my Father who collected the insignia in the 1950s and early 1960s.

I have the ALI TANK with the proper mirror image of tank to the back, nice striking, but no maker mark Scully is there. I have seen the ALI but no tank marked by Scully. Any thoughts??

I should have added a new addition to the collection. I had it looked at by several good collectors. It is not the light flimsy metal I have seen on some of the repros. It is all brass near identical to the forum examples.

Both patterns are ok from the description that you give. A couple of years ago I corresponded with Scully's about several questions. One was marking badges. He told me at that time that not all badges in a run were marked, only some.
