Smile Numbered titles

I recently bought a shoulder title 20/LONDON, these usually show signs of having the "T" removed, either with traces of the foot of the letter or file marks where this has been cleaned off. However this title looks as though it was made exactly as it is with no conversion.

Has anyone else seen or have any titles produced like this.

Yes, I have a matching pair. I've also seen 23, 25 & 28 from the London Regiment made like this too.

Thanks Keith, I always thought that these were conversions, but if you have a pair of these then they must be more numerous than I thought.

20 seems to be the most common one. I don't know the significance of not having the T. Being London rather than County of London places them 1916-ish, or slightly after WW1 when changes were made to other branches titles such as the Yeomanry also losing the T.

Question WW1 SHOULDER TITLES.

Hi I do not know if this is relevent with your post but i have a couple of Leeds Rifles titles with the T removed plus either the 7 or 8 battalion numbers removed as well and both titles show the marks above the W YORK part of the badge where these items were removed.
And on the other hand I have one of these titles Identicle to the other 2 but
there is no sign at all of anything being removed even under a glass there is no signs or marks on it and I would say it had been made like that,I hope that this is of use to you,Regards Andy.

Smile Titles

Well chaps, it seems that some of these titles were made without the "T" for certain London Btns as well as a few other TF units. Titles have fascinated me for years and I am sure there is lots of things yet to be discovered about them as I'm sure they are not an exact science.

Many thanks for your replies and help.
