Book review
Has any forum member seen or better still own a copy of this book,
"THE ALLIED FORCES IN ITALY 1943-1945 by Guido Rosignoli" I would be interested in any opinions of this book as I have never seen a copy and I am thinking of putting this on my Christmas list. |

Hi, Yes I have the book. It is done in an interesting format, working the way down from the top, eg headquarters, then armies, to all of the regiments, corps and units that served in Italy. Historical sketch of the units. Lots of badge, uniform, insignia information. It is packed with illustrations. A worthwhile reference.
Drawback, it is a card cover, not hardcover. Table of Contents (in my copy) is at the end. I was wondering if it is one of these "demand printings", made up when ordered.

Rob,
This is rather confusing, I have a hard back copy of the Guido Rosignoli book "The Allied Forces in Italy 1943-45" published in 1989. Full of line drawings of insignia in colour and a most interesting book. In the April 2009 newsletter of the Military Heraldry Society there is an advert for what is described as a just published paperback by Guido Rosignoli titled "The Allied Forces in Italy 1943-45" I dont know if the paperback book supposedly published in 2009 is just a paperback edition of a book originally published 20 years before or if it has been updated. I certainly consult my hardback book on a regular basis. Peter

The recent edition is an updated and revised version with additional text and illustrations.

GGA,
That explains it all ( and was not mentioned in the MHS review ). Peter
