Hi CB,
Now that is one that interests me. From the info posted I would have to assume that this is a veterans badge, unless of course the soldier who owned it was also fed up with polishing. Nice to hear of its existence I'll keep my eyes open for one. Regards. Ry |

Hi Bill,
Error continued as I meant to say Lincs before and not Royal Lincs. The Lincolnshire Regiment pre 1946 version, didn't become Royal to after 1946 when title scroll changes to Royal Lincolnshire and EGYPYT no longer in Olde English font, I have the same badge as you - chromed Lincolnshire Regiment. I thought early to be chromed. Cheers Dean. |

Hi Dean,
I got it from one of the more reputable dealers a few years ago but never knew why it had the chrome finish. Maybe now I'll find out. Bill |

The Liverpool Irish KC mentioned by Cavalryman (post 17) was in fact worn up to 1964 so it broadens the date range !
(How long was was the NI Horse KC worn ?) |

Chromed LDYPAO Bi-metal ORs 1957-63
Just like to thank Stephen "Badjez" for the pictures of an ORs chromed Bi-metal he has sent to me :-
(Probably a) Senior NCO's Chromed cap badge worn in the Beret. This bi-metal badge would have been purchased from the QM and then privately chromed, probably at a local Garage. The badge was then worn with a scarlet backing in the Beret. This practice was common amongst the Royal Armoured Corps Regiments of the time, the chrome protected the badge and was hard wearing with the added benefit of keeping its shine in all conditions and would stand out on the blue Beret of the LDYPAO.

I have a Kings Shropshire Light Infantry badge that has been chromed. It appears to be a later badge so I guess it would be post WW2

Hi All
I have a Fife & Forfar Yeo cap badge that has been chromed. I don't think I have a photo and aren't able to take one at the moment. It has (from memory) a nicely tapered slider with a good crimp mark, so I'm sure it's a good badge. Cheers, Alex |
