Victim may be a more fitting term.

I'm afraid don't agree Luke.

If you are going to pay such a significant amount for an item you have to do your homework.

Someone just coughed up £1,365.67 for an SAS flag from seller vongold without noticing that all his flags US, British, New Zealand, German, Japanese etc and ranging from 19th century, WWI and WWII all have strikingly similar features. To me, that is not a victim but a magnificent idiot.

And how likely is it that an SAS flag, an LRDG flag and a Chindits flag are marked with a broad arrow at all?

I was talking from a UK legal perspective carrying on Simon’s concise summary in post #2. And believe me, they are a victim.

There is a direct correlation between fake SF items and stupid people paying silly money. It seems to attract some very odd people with little common sense.

Speaking as somebody very new to collecting formation signs(my main interest is ww2 defences and stop lines), i find it disgusting that somebody would prey on somebody like myself, that isn't as knowledgeable as the rest of you guys

Got to be honest and say I just think people are naive and their desire to own the item overrides common sense - if you look at the other items for sale no one can have that many scarce/desirable items for sale, common sense just says its not realistic

If someone burgles your home, they aren't concerned whether you have to replace items and if you're attached to any of them.
People who sell fakes they know are not genuine think the same.
A thief is a thief.
