Royal Bengal Fusiliers Glengarry
Thought I’d post this as there doesn’t seem to be a single thread on the P.T. glengarry to the 101st Regiment of Foot Royal Bengal Fusiliers which later became the RMF.
The badge appears to be a match for the one in KK and it also differs significantly from the plentiful fakes on eBay. In my opinion it has been plated at some stage which is why the reverse appears a bit patchy in places. Curiously it has solder run down the loops which I suspect are probably replacements but with some age. It cost the grand total of £15 so no great loss whatever the outcome. I think it may stand a chance. It certainly does not look like the usual fakes as mentioned. The placement of the lugs is correct and it does seem to match the KK example, although we all know that is not always correct. I like the end of the strap at the bottom, which looks like it should as well. I am not sure I can see evidence of plating though. Perhaps an highly polished badge long ago that has patinated in an unusual way?
