Default RMA Bombardiers badge

So apparently this should have just two lugs, not three.

Faked to deceive or just because it's scarce and people might need for displays, replacements etc ?

The non genuine badge manufacturers have made a series of 3 of these badges with 3 chevrons, 2 chevrons and 1 chevron.

The 3 chevron one never existed I am reliably informed.

They are made for the purpose of extracting money from people, nothing more.

Yours is a fake and whether they have 2 or 3 loops I dont know but you can bet your life that the fakes will be out there with both 2 and 3 loops.

regards

To back up what I said, here's another fake with two loops.

Pictures of the 2 that I have attached below. Personally I have never been a fan of any that have lugs anywhere other than the back of the ball of the grenade and the back of the flames. I have never seen any that I like where the chevrons have been attached using tabs but I guess that is all personal choice. With respect to the badge with 3 chevrons, just because it has been sold by an auctioneer doesn't mean it was ever officially issued. I would consider the book "Personal Distinctions" by John Rawlinson to be a much more reliable reference than any auctioneers listing and in page 61 of the book it states "Sergeants wore a band of gold lace and no badge in their pill box caps. There is no evidence that the many badges with 3 chevrons were ever officially issued"

I wasn't suggesting it was genuine because Bonhams sold it

I’ve handled so many of these over the years I’m convinced that pretty much all of them are fake. The RMA was a small unit and just didn’t have that many NCOs. I’ve also seen over 50 group photos of RMA NCOs, and not a single three chevron badge is shown.
Yours
John
