Default 5th Dragoon Guards - Lugs or sliders?

Hi,

I have been offered a 5th Dragoon Guards badge which on first look seems genuine. However it has a set of lugs, west-east, and I am not sure if this is correct as I have only seen badges with sliders until now?

This is slightly putting me off especially with my limited experience!

Does anyone have a 5th Dragoon Guards badge with lugs? Or can anyone advise?

Sorry but I have no picture of the badge yet.

Cheers

Sean.

Hi Sean the main thing when buying a 5th Dragoon Guards badge is the white metal centre is inlaid so it is white metal at the back as well.
Here are a couple of examples, the king's crown is Keiths the QVC mine.

Cheers
Malc

Hi,

Thanks for the advice and time and effort for the pictures Malc.

The badge is made from gilt with a white metal inlay.

The inlay is solid and shows through to the back - so far so good!

It has a Kings crown.

I see from Malc's pictuire his QVC badge has lugs and his KC has a slider. Did this depend really on who manfactured the badges as to wheter they had lugs or sliders or are there genuine KC types with lugs?

Cheers

Sean

Hi Sean
Not really as some edwardian badges were lugged before the general use of sliders were applied to badges, so from what you have said it sounds like a good one.
