It shouldn't be, there is a Lambourne makers mark in the 'Makers Marks' project folder - and as it still ongoing, you might want to take a nice close-up and post it for addition.

hi joe
i would suggest they are both ww1 english made badges with the larger one being a variation only or maybe as a cap badge rather than collar? i have never seen one this size as i have never seen a lambourne made badge.
great items mate

The scans are interesting but I can't enlarge them enough to get a clear view of the backs. Are there any maker marks or is it just assumed to be Lambourne?

What may be the rarest rising sun of all is a medium sized CAP badge that I saw years ago in the AWM. The only way I can describe it is that the ends of the scrolls stuck out each side further than usual. Never seen another but it certainly exists.

As I touched on in my recent thread on the subject of Lambourne Rising Sun’s the wonky sun rays and peculiar crown shape of the badge in post #2 is in keeping with their wares. The overall odd shape due to the scroll ends being too long is certainly another possible trait.

Like you I should like to see clearer photos and close ups of any mark. Sadly it seems the member who posted this has not been online for months.

On occasion Lambourne did stamp their makers mark directly into the badge e.g. North Devon Hussars and Berkshire Yeomanry. Also some of their wares are very rare, seemingly struck in very low quantities such as the Barrow & North Lonsdale VTC and 12th Officer Cadet Battalion.

On balance these thumbnails seem the best candidate for the existence of a Lambourne badge that I’ve seen but obviously not yet certain.
