Royal Navy Rate Badges - Real or Copies
Hi,
I am looking for some guidance in determining real from copy rate badges, especially WW2 era. I have seen the excellent guide by RCN on here, dated 2008. This has certainly given me confidence on some of the badges I have recently purchased. However, I have the following badges that I am still uncertain of. Can you please assist in letting me know if they are are real or fake. This first badge appears to meet the guidelines illustrated by RCN. However, this badge appears to be embroidered with synthetic fibres. Many thanks, Andy |

These three badges are all embroidered through a black linen type fabric. Are they 1940/1950 period badges?

These four are again embroidered through a linen backing fabric. However, they are much stiffer and all of them look and feel to be of a modern construction.

And finally this one. Again, the modern feel to the badge with the linen style backing and same embroidery pattern and materials to the previous four. I love this one, as it has the Kings Crown and NATO Stock number embroidered upon it.
Thanks Andy |
